HEDONISM OF UPPER EAST SIDE TEENAGERS IN MANHATTAN ELITE AS DESCRIBED IN GOSSIP GIRL TV SERIES SEASON 1

In this thesis, the writer analyzes about the modern hedonism about The Upper East Side Teenagers in Manhattan Elite as the result of condition and social surrounding. The objectives of the study are to find out how the hedonism life style affect into teenagers life as described in Ziegesar’s Gossip Girl TV Series Season 1. To find out the answer of the problem formulated before, the writer applied sociological approach as the theory that provides an explanation for human society. Sociology commonly used in order to examine human relationship toward supporting effect of human behavior. The data source to be analyzed is Gossip Girl TV Series Season 1 by Cecily von Ziegesar. Since the data source of this analysis is drama series or movie therefore the writer uses Cinematography aspect as the supporting theory to analyze the dialogue, narration, sounds, camera angle, lighting and effect inside of the movie. This analysis revealed the issue about hedonism lifestyle, how hedonism affects the teenager’s life in Manhattan Elite as the result of social surrounding. Modern hedonism is more about lifestyles, and more broadly, it can be a language, fashion and branded things as the effect of modern times. In the twentieth century hedonism became significantly popular, not only talking about fashions style or branded things but also held a party among upper class society. Another example of modern hedonism of Upper East Side Teenagers happened when Bass family held Brunch to Chuck’s father foundation. Many people adopt this thought to show the excess of urban wealth. Means that, hedonism is the theory of pleasure, which pleasure of their own life become the most important in living among big society.
