HEGEMONY OF GENDER STREOTYPES IN MULAN MOVIE “ LIFE ACTION VERSION”

This research intends to analyze cultural traditions of Disney Movie “Mulan”. Therefore, the researcher explains how the refelection of cultural traditions by paying attention to the issue of gender streotypes in the film “Mulan”. In analysing this research, the researchers used a sociological approach to describe the gender streotypes in the movie “ Mulan”. The researchers analyze literary work based on the dialogue and explain the film with Hegemony point of view. By used Hegemony Theory by Antonio Gramsci to analyze cultural traditions of gender stereotypes in the film as a representation of the reality of people's lives which used as the basis of knowledge for the research topic. The meaning of Feminism and Gender stereotypes found from the category of action, namely the opportunity for women to become leaders, do work freely in public, and freedom to achieve their desires based on their abilities. In this analyze we can conclude that Mulan is not just a regular animated movie but a movie full of feminism Issues.
